About the Role
We’re looking for a driven Business Development Representative (BDR) who can both build pipeline and close smaller-sized deals. You’ll own the top of the funnel; prospecting, qualifying, and booking meetings and you’ll also take qualified opportunities to close for lower-tier accounts. This role bridges outbound prospecting and transactional sales, helping accelerate revenue while freeing senior reps to focus on larger strategic opportunities. You’ll play a critical role in growing Smartria’s market presence and ensuring a consistent flow of qualified leads through outbound and inbound channels.
What You'll Do
Pipeline Generation & Qualification
- Source and develop new opportunities via outbound outreach, referrals, and events
- Conduct discovery calls to uncover business challenges and align on success criteria
Product Demonstrations
- Develop a deep understanding of Smartria’s compliance platform, the RIA market, and the regulatory challenges faced by advisors
- Deliver compelling demos of Smartria’s compliance management platform
Negotiation & Closing
- Draft proposals, negotiate contract terms, and coordinate with client success for a smooth transition for lower-tier accounts
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date opportunity records and forecasts in CRM (HubSpot)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Customer Success to ensure seamless handoff post-close
- Feed prospect feedback to management and engineers to refine messaging, pricing, and feature roadmap
What You’ll Bring
- 1 to 2 years in a sales or BDR role (SaaS experience preferred)
- Proven ability to meet or exceed activity and pipeline creation goals
- Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable leading demos and handling objections
- Self-motivated, organized, and resilient; able to thrive in a high-performance, growth-oriented environment
- Familiarity with compliance workflows, regulatory technology, or wealth management software is a plus.
